Another weekend is upon us, and that means lots and lots of new shows and movies to watch as we hide indoors from all the inclement weather—and the wind, if you’re experiencing that. It’s been very windy around here, and it makes me not want to go outside at all.
Each week I scour the internet for all the best new stuff out there (and occasionally the worst, because sometimes it’s fun to watch bad TV like Fear The Walking Dead!) and share it with you in this weekly streaming guide. If I ever miss something, feel free to let me know and I’m always happy to add stuff either later in the weekend or in next week’s guide.

Silo Season 2 (Apple TV)
I’m so stoked that Silo is back. The first season of the sci-fi, post-apocalyptic mystery series on Apple TV was a bit of a slow burn, but I was hooked by the end. Season 2 just debuted this Friday with a very slow-burn season premiere, but Rebecca Ferguson is an entirely watchable lead and even though this episode was light on dialogue and plot, she did a terrific job keeping our attention. New episodes land Fridays.
Dune: Prophecy (HBO / Max)
It’s almost ironic that Silo, which stars Rebecca Ferguson from the Dune movies, is debuting the same weekend as Dune: Prophecy, the TV prequel to said Dune movies. The series isn’t reviewing quite as well as the Denis Villeneuve films, but I’m still very curious how this ends up being. My man Travis Fimmel—of Vikings and the tragically cancelled Raised By Wolves (thanks Warner-Discovery!)—is in it and that’s enough for me. The series premiere airs on Sunday.
Day of the Jackal Episodes 1-5 (Peacock)
This has been on the horizon for me for some time, as I’ve always been interested in this story and am very curious to see how Peacock pulls it off. I do very much like Eddie Redmayne, even if it’s a tad hard to picture him as a deadly assassin. Lashana Lynch has done some good stuff as well. The first five episodes are out now, so binge away, with weekly releases dropping each Friday after this.
Cross (Prime Video)
I’ve never read any of James Patterson’s Alex Cross mysteries, but I do remember Morgan Freeman playing Cross in Kiss The Girls back in 1997. I was a teenager then and enjoyed the movie a great deal (it doesn’t have great reviews) and I’m curious to see this new version of Cross. Aldis Hodge is certainly a very different—bulkier—version of Cross than Freeman. Like Day of the Jackal, this is getting good—but not great—reviews from critics and audiences.
Cobra Kai Season 6, Part 2
Cobra Kai’s fifth season has been chopped up into three parts releasing over the course of something like six months. Part 2 is out now and I’ve yet to watch it. I thought Part 1 was a mixed bag, which is basically how I’ve felt about this show for several years now. The magic of Season 1 and 2 is mostly gone, but I still enjoy the fights and some of the characters. I’m glad it’s the final season.
Landman (Paramount+)
Taylor Sheridan needs to be stopped. Or, rather, he needs to slow down and give each of his many shows more of his attention (and maybe delegate more, which I know sounds contrary to more attention). It’s just kind of insane how many shows Sheridan is juggling all at once.
These include Yellowstone, Tulsa King, Lioness, 1923, and about a dozen others, including the new Landman, starring Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore and Jon Hamm. I certainly can’t keep up with all these shows, and while this one—about a fixer in oil country Texas—sounds pretty interesting and boasts a good cast, from what I’ve heard it also is the most Sheridan of all Sheridan projects. We’ll see. I’m sure it’ll be very entertaining. The premiere is this Sunday on Paramount.
Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson (Netflix)
I really have nothing to say about this ridiculous boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, but if you’re into that kind of thing it’s on Netflix tonight. Knock yourself out!
Streaming Weekly
As always, some new shows have now entered the “weekly” column, while others have shuffled off into past tense. The excellent Sweetpea serial killer drama on Prime Video starring Ella Purnell just wrapped, and I’m working on my season review at the moment. It was quite good, but very dark and I felt a lot of anxiety watching it! I also need to write a review of Penguin and its harrowing finale. What a great show.
Here’s everything else currently airing that I’m either watching or writing about.
Arcane Season 2, Act 2 (Netflix)
The first three episodes of Netflix and Riot Games’ Arcane debuted last weekend and it was . . . pretty good. Not as good as Season 1, and honestly not even close to as good. Still a lot of fun, very entertaining, but very rushed. The animation is still gorgeous and I’m still excited to find out what happens to all these characters and the fate of the cities, Piltover and Zaun, but I’m nervous. Read my review of Act 1 here. Three new episodes go live this Saturday.
Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 (Paramount Network)
I haven’t caught up with Yellowstone yet, but my oh my was the Mid-Season Premiere controversial thanks to the fate of John Dutton (Kevin Costner). I won’t spoil that here, of course, but be prepared if you’re still catching up and have somehow not been spoiled already. This is airing on the Paramount Network—old-fashioned cable—with a Peacock streaming date six months down the road. You can purchase the season on Prime Video.
Shrinking Season 2 (Apple TV)
Shrinking is a truly lovely show about flawed characters you care about trying to make life work when facing all the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune that tend to be thrown at us. Jason Segel, Harrison Ford and the rest of the cast are really great, and it’s both hilarious and emotionally poignant. Highly recommend. New episodes land on Tuesdays on Apple TV+. I’m two episodes behind.
FROM (MGM)
We’re really getting down to the wire with FROM, the most underrated show on TV. Season 3 has been a little hit-or-miss, kind of like Season 2, but last week’s episode was both scary and intense and really started moving us toward what I can only assume will be a heart-pounding season finale. I’m going to really hate waiting for Season 4!
